Horse Podcast Ep 93: Art With Heart

On today’s episode Heather speaks with Leanne Peniuk, local equine photographer from Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada. Leanne is the photographer and partnering collaborator on the book Rescue me, Volume 1 Humans Saving Horses.  This book began with an idea, many stories to share, the hard ones that not everyone want to hear. Leanne has used her Heart to create some amazing Art in this coffee table style book of photos and stories of these beautiful horses. The photos and stories share the journey of the horses that have been seized or surrendered to the BC SPCA. Some coming from pretty terrible circumstances, who have overcome adversity and have been given a second chance. The profits from this book are being donated to aid in the care and rehabilitation of seized horses. Don’t forget to continue to submit your topic ideas and questions for future episodes.

Rescue me, Volume 1 Humans saving Horses

Giving them their Happily Ever After.

Leanne Peniuk has a unique way of capturing the very essence of beauty horses have. With this passion she has created some spectacular photos of horses that were in need. The stories in this book are all about horses and how they overcame the challenges they were placed in. Volume one is Humans saving horses, but in reality we all know that in the end they are the ones saving us. Lets give these horses the happily ever after they deserve.

Leanne shares some great advice in this interview on rescuing horses, the who to call, look at what you can offer, and making the decision to perhaps make your place the horses forever home. She also shares tips on starting a new craft, whether it’s photography, cooking or rescuing a horse, it all starts with practice.

Special Announcement

Today’s episode is sponsored by Horse India

Horse India aims to give you a holiday to remember, to ensure that through our safaris you can experience the passion we hold for the Marwari horse and Rajasthan. We want to share with you the thrill of riding the unique and spirited Marwari.

Ride through magical Rajasthan, feel the spirit of the Marwari horse as you discover history, culture, forts and palaces, by retracing old routes through the forests of the Aravalli (A-ra-Valley) Hills, and riding over the sand dunes of the Thar Desert. You may have heard of the “Golden Triangle” –  well we ride the bit in the middle! Between the blue city of Jodhpur, the lake city of Udaipur, and within easy reach of the pink city of Jaipur. Join us to ride Marwari horses in their homeland.Horse India welcomes groups of  4 – 12 riders. They can cater to all riding abilities, but to get the most from the holidays you should be comfortable at a canter in the open countryside.

You can book your own private group, join one of our open groups, or if short on time ask us for Day rates. The most popular time to ride in Rajasthan is between October and March however, the  rides can be booked for any time of year to suit your required dates, and will be tailored to suit the weather conditions (summer heat / monsoon rain etc) as well as your riding abilities and requirements. Families with children, and non-riding partners welcome.
