The Endurance riding vet goes into detail about what they’re looking at for heart rates, respiration rates, lameness and stresses the importance of having a good working relationship with your vet so you can stay ahead of the problems. As part of our ask the vet series, we are fortunate to have Trisha Dowling join us. She comes with an extensive resume She is a professor with the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatchewan, focusing on pharmacology. The Endurance Riding Vet!
Are you interested in trying endurance riding, if so you are at the right place. Today’s podcast covers off important information on what the vets are looking for during the mandatory rest stops during a endurance race. A few things they are checking will be soundness and cardiac recovery. A nose to tail, hands on or hands all over the horse exam will be completed. Knowing what is normal for your horse will be important during these exams. The vet is there to protect your horse so it is always a good to have a good working condition and rapport with your vet.
