Volunteering – Tips on Getting in Free! Have you ever wondered how to volunteer at those large horse events? Or what about working abroad at a horse facility? Today’s EQA podcast is sharing insider secrets on just that. Probably the most important thing to remember is no volunteering job is too small if it gets you in the door. Being the gate opening at the warm-up ring may seem like a small position however you will get to watch all the jumpers. Working abroad goes the same way, perhaps cleaning stalls isn’t as glamorous as leading beach gallops but there is always potential to learn about a new breed. There are lots of great resources available out there make sure you check out our website and receive your copy of Horse Riding in every state and country for free.

Volunteering
Volunteering can be a great way to get yourself into an event that perhaps tickets are to expensive or it is a private event. Most large horse events do utilize volunteers as free labour fortunately there are usually perks that come with volunteering. For example perhaps you work the gate, you will get the opportunity to see the famous riders up close. Working the warm up ring gets you a front row seat to action. Regardless of what role you take know that helping out helps our industry grow.
Volunteering – Getting the job
One of my favourite quotes is ” the answer is always no, if you don’t ask”. This is a great way to think about getting your foot in the door at any event. Use your contacts as resources, send that email and ask, are there any open position? Like i said before know job is too small. be versatile, if you good with computers, offer to help with program design. it is as simple as that ask the questions and be honest with your skill levels.
