Horse Podcast Ep 254: Saved by Horses

If you love books, this is the perfect place for you. Once a month, Heather, Ute, and sometimes Krystal, will talk about their favorite horsey book. In today’s episode of the EQA Book Club, Ute is talking with Courtney Maum about her upcoming book The Year of the Horses. In this autobiography, Courtney tells the story of her depression and how she managed with the help of horses to slowly make her way back to a normal, healthy life.

The Year of the Horses by Courtney Maum

Scheduled to be released 3rd of May 2022.

Aged 37 years, Courtney suffers from a crippling depression and insomnia which threaten her marriage, her work and her family. When both medication and therapy fail, she decides to try out a last-ditch attempt to pull herself from the brink by returning to her childhood passion: horse riding. She has not been near horses for thirty years and needs to relearn to ride, to relax and to enjoy life.

As she turns to the fast-paced and male dominated sports of polo, she rediscovered herself not only as a rider but also as a woman, wife, mother and writer, being able to overcome life’s challenges and savouring its joys.
