Horse Podcast Ep 199: Tales from the Life of a Horse Breeder

In today’s podcast episode I am talking about my recent experiences as a horse breeder. We have always had some foals here and there, breeding our own safari horses. But never more than two or maximum three in the same year. This year we got five, so there is plenty of work. Night watches, midwife duties and kindergarten have been my daily life this summer. Now finally all foals are there and I am getting them used to being handled, haltered and groomed. Life is definitely going to be busy for the next couple of months! Horse Podcast Ep 130: Trails Skills: Ponying Horses

Today I am talking about a valuable skill for trail riders: Ponying Horses. This basically means, leading a horse while riding another. It is a skillset which comes in handy while training young horses, leading a packhorse, riding with a young child or a beginner or bringing home the horse of an injured rider. In short, every trail rider should know how to pony a horse and every horse should get used to being ponied or having another horse being ponied alongside him. Beside it is a fun way of going out on trail with not one but two horses and it really increases your horsemanship.

On today’s episode Ute talks with Charlotte Kingsman Chaudhary, a British woman married to an India and living near Delhi. Together with her husband, Charlotte has built up a Horsemanship Center in Gurgaon where they train horses and riders in a more natural approach to horses and horse riding. Charlotte is also a personal coach helping people to master their emotions and get better in their communication or in anger management. Her speciality: She does emotional coaching with horses! So, have a listen as we talk about how horses can bring out our emotion and subsequently help us with our body language. Horse Podcast Ep 74: Finding a New Home in the Camargue

On today’s episode, Ute talks to Daniela Schlingloff, a German horse trainer who moved to the Camargue a couple of years ago to live and work there. Daniela tells us about her journey with horses and how her mare Alisha forced her to get a better and quicker horse women, setting her on her path to become a successful horse trainer. After spending some time in Canada learning Natural Horsemanship and training green horses, she discovered the Dual Activation system developed by the German horse trainer Michael Geitner. She studied it and today is a certified trainer teaching people in Switzerland and France and helping them improve their relationship with horses. We talk about her training methods, how the brain of the horse works, her love for the Camargue horses and why she decided to relocate to Southern France and never regretted her decision.
